A Trunk To Park Your Trunk!

A trunk is a great way to store your stuff, but this one does double duty now. And no, it's not a coffee table! :)
I had a large laminated map that I used to line the inside of the trunk. ( Before I lined the bottom half, I attached the legs) Then I added 2 pieces of wood on the inside. One in the front, one in the back. They hold the seat. I had an old captains chair that was really beyond repair , so I took the arms off and attached them to either side of the trunk with screws and wrapped them in natural hemp rope.
Next I cut the legs from a 4x4. I attached them from the inside with washers and screw. I wanted to make it interesting (and I wanted to use my router) so I layered the two front legs with a simple design, then cut out the fish. I used the screw as it's eye! Then I trimmed the bottom with rope.
I think I used a couple yards of burlap to make the cusions. I don't know how to use a sewing machine, so I had to hand sew the back cushion by hand. I added some neat old buttons I had for decoration and used twine for the fringe. For the seat, I cut a piece of plywood to fit, gave it nice thick padding and stapled the fabric to the plywood. I made two pulls from the burlap to make it easy to lift the seat off when you need to to get to your stuff!
And there you have it! A trunk to park your trunk! hehehe :) Thanks for lookin' :)

That would be so great in the corner of a bedroom for extra storage. Maybe for all those extra shoes that seem to be everywhere 😉
