Paint them, stencil something on the top and make the legs look "dipped' by painting up the legs equally on each leg. I did a houndstooth check stencil on some not long ago and they came out great! Also you could decoupage some cool wrapping paper on the tops. Make sure you trim the paper carefully and put several top coats on.

You could cover the seats with some batting and a cute patterned material that you like and decorate the room around them OR decorate your room and find a material to match. Then spray paint the legs in an accenting color.

not sure of your decorating style/taste. If you cover with a padded seat, consider other textiles than fabric - Old rug found at thrift store, old clothing (flannel shirt or vintage gingham?) here are some pics and descriptions

Would you consider putting wood slabs on top with a simple Polyurethane finish (natural) or use a Polyshade stain and urethane combined to match your décor? I'd paint the legs black with Annie Sloan chalk paint. A little distressing too. Good luck!

Sand paint stencil. Sand pad paint. Use for end tables, put in an un used corner with little table cloth and tiny lamp, lots you can do with those two items experiment! It can be changed short of cutting into pieces that is. Lol

I would distress paint the legs a color to match room they are going into. The top I would stain a dark brown or black, if the legs are a light color, or light brown or gray if the legs are dark. Find some catchy saying or old label off the internet, decoupage on the seat and seal with a flat varnish.

Paint the stools the color of your choice and then paint the legs about 6 to 12 inches from the bottom of each leg with shiny gold or silver. Use painter's tape to mark off height and keep the paint lines crisp and even. You see this technique all over Pinterest and magazines now. The look is beautiful.

Paint or stain them a color of your choice depending on where you will use them. Cut two shelves to sit between the stools creating a plant rack, dishes, or other household items. I see using it for plants,,, larger plants on the stools with smaller on shelves. Can also have shelves extend beyond sides of stools.

You could find a nice piece of wood and creat a desk using the stools as the outer legs, you could could take three same length pieces of 1x4 (painted in decending color of your choice) and run it thru the rungs and across top for a narrow shelving unit. Or you could paint after filling holes with wood puffy and put a cool paper transfer on the seats of them. Let us know how they turned out. You should get tons of good ideas. Good luck.

I saw that, it was very creative..... Im definately considering that.... But the seating doesnt have that beautiful wood grain..... So I will probably have to paint them first.

Get some foam padding and leather/fabric and cover them. Paint the legs color or ur choice

Mary I think this was my original idea...... It was not as developed as yours tho. I just realized one of the stools seating sheds..... So covering it with batting and faux leather would be my best option and tacking them rounded studs.
  • Ilona Elliott Ilona Elliott on Oct 18, 2016
What Mary said. And the tacks. It would class them up quite a bit.

I have an old stool from my Mother. I turned it into a table. A round piece of wood attached to the top with long screws. Beautiful.

If they were mine, I would clean and paint the stools white... tops too. After letting dry good overnight. then paint the whole stools with clear Varnish to protect stools go to Walmart to the sewing department and buy the seat padding, a little overhang is ok, hold in place and staple down, ask hubby to help you. Now you can pick out the fabric of your choice. I would get a heavy material, if not you can always double it, let there be a sizable overhang. You really need help now. Peat fabric and turn under the seat. One person can hold in place while the other person staples to seat. Wow, so awesome and you did it. Compliments galore. By the way, you can't use a home desk stapler from home. Use a heavy duty one from Home Depot. I would use 2 coats of the paint and 2 coats of the varnish. You can get the paint and varnish in the Craft Department or Michael's. Hope this helps you.
