Kitchen cupboard revamp ideas please πŸ˜ƒ

I have moved into a house with a kitchen that is in desperate need of a revamp, the cupboards in particular. What can I do with the doors? They are wooden on the bottom strip but the rest is, well, almost plastic type. What paint could I use? I do not want to replace the kitchen or put new doors on - help!!!

Before replacing the cabinets, decide if it is worth the value to upgrade. When we painted our cabinets, we talked about replacing them but decided we would never get the money out of them should we sell. I would strip them and paint them. You wouldn't believe the difference it makes. I love my cabinets with new hardware and the paint job.

I was at a class using chalk paints. One of the finishes we used it on was the formica type finish that you find on tables, etc. Clean with either TSP or Simple Green, paint with chalk paint and finish with wax or varnish. You can distress, sand, antique and do a lot of different things with chalk paint, It can be sanded with water, cutting down on dust and cleaned up with water. CHeck out some of the videos for more info.

The "plastic" looks like it's textured. I go with Paula. Wash them with 50/50 vinegar, water, and a few squirts of dish washing liquid. Prime with KILZ, BIN, or Zinsser. Then paint with you color. Use acrylic paint, foam roller, and paint brush for the details. Would be easier if you could remove the doors.

I used rustoleum restore cabinet transformations on my kitchen and bath cabinets...Love this product and many colors to choose from...no stripping and no sanding and no nasty fumes

This is what I was going to suggest. I have redone wood and laminate furniture with great success! I love the ease of use and no odor!
