What can I do with these pergola pieces?

This was a 30' x 11' x 10' Pergola, that was destroyed in Hurricane Mathew. The fiberglass columns and PVC are in good shape. I'm looking for Ideas about what to do with them. I'm sure going to miss it.

If the pieces are in good shape, maybe call the manufacturer for the pieces that broke.

At least one large section seems in good shape. I like calling the manufacturer for replacement pieces.

Hopefully, there was no more damage to your home than this.

I must admit that I was thankful that this was the worst thing that happened. I wasn't going to rebuild the pergola and looked for other ideas; however I changed my mind and will have it done because I missed it. It will be about 10' shorter in length but width & height will be the same.

Stand it up and plant Ivey or a creeping vine/flower to grow up it. Add sting lighting and make it a focal point

Can any of it be used as a garden trellis for growing plants. Or for staking taller plants that might only need one or two pieces. Or to create a small white picket fence around a flower bed or small garden. Think garden and plants and let your imagination go.

Thank you. I will have a small fence built around my water conditioner. I will reinstall the pergola but I will have a lot of pieces left for projects such as you mentioned.

If all else fails make you a trellis for a vine such as wisteria to run up on.

Another great idea for all the leftovers. When all is completed I will have uses for almost everything. Hometalk people are so helpful and creative.

I agree looks like the pieces would be perfect for a trellis...

I missed it so much I decided I will have it reinstalled but it will be 20 x 11 x 10 instead of 30 x 11 x 10. Should be done in a few days. This time the columns will be filled with cement.

Humpty Dumpty is together again. 10' shorter but he has a nicer top that will keep it cooler. I've got many pieces left and I will use ideas from all the wonderful HT people that posted. Thank You.

Great trellis. Or.. add colored glass in the squares~ put at far end of the garden for a great back drop!

I want to do something like this off my patio area. Its about 10 X 20, what can I expect to spend on wood for this?

  • Sherrie S Sherrie S on Jan 06, 2017

I can't tell you what wood would cost but a lot of the cost is the labor and I only watched them rebuild it. The rebuilt one is shorter in length but I had them make an arbor with the extra pieces. The columns are now filled with cement. I don't want to discourage you but I think a job this size requires a pro. No pros live at my home.

After completing Pergola and Arbor I have at least 30 eleven foot pvc pieces just lying around waiting to make something. A trellis and a picket fence sounds nice but how do you attach pvc to pvc?

    Hi,

Make Wall Trellis, Make Free standing fence. Make a Bar front. Use main body of roof as a cover for a Pond to stop the Heron. Make Garden Arch. Nice problem to have!
