I am needing a light kit that will hold 6 mason jars.

I want to string them across a porch. I can find pendent light kits, but I want a kit that will hold 6 jars. Can you help me ?

What have you found? most lights can be connected in series for long string. You can also get "pendant" heads for various tack lighting systems.

You might be able to find a light base and attach the jars to it, but it will probably be easier and more flexible to use the individual pendant lights and attach them to a single base. You could attach them to a stained or painted board so that they look like one light fixture and even adjust the lengths or heights of each light. Lots more flexibility...

Hi...her's my suggestion, with my assumption that you want to make a string light set of mason jars or pendants of mason jars. Shopping list: porcelain sockets with a short 1/4 inch nipple, 1/4 inch lock nuts and a 1/4 inch nipple hoop, 16 gauge lamp wire, butt end connectors or small wire nuts, airline wire and a canopy kit ( 0r 6 if you if you want 6 pendant kits), link chain. Drill a 1/4 inch hole in the center of the mason jar lid and secure the porcelain socket with the lock nut and the nipple hoop (and about 4 holes to let the heat from the lamps escape), after you wire the sockets the length you want them to hang. If individual pendants, use link chain and connect to the canopy kits and you will have your mason jar pendants. If you want a string light set, attach the link chain to the mason jars and run the airline wire through the top of the chain, knotting it at the spacing you desire.....run lamp cord along the airline wire to each point where the lamp is connect ( secure the lamp cord to the airline wire with tie wraps), splice the the wire together and add either a canopy kit at the end or just a line plug with an on/off switch wired into the lamp cord. I would use a 25 of 40 watt decorative lamp and "wala" you have your mason jar lamps. Sorry I;m so worrdy.....have fun Gary

Lowe's has them, they might be a special order....$199.00 they come with jar shaped globes but you can interchange with wide mouth mason jars as I did in my kitchen. Will post a pic later.

You could make a light by building a "U" shaped wood base that will be hung from the ceiling with either cable, chain or rope, depending on rustic you want it. You can either stain or paint the wood. Drill holes in the wood for the sockets to go through, screw the mason jar lids to the bottom of the fixture, with holes for the sockets in the lids, this will allow you to unscrew the jars to change your bulbs easily. If you don't want all the cords showing, you can run them inside the U shaped base, and then either join them all somehow (I'm not an electrician) or braid them together to run to the ceiling outlet. If you wanted the fixture to be more like a traditional chandelier, you could make several of the U shapes and do the jars the way I said before, then taking the wires together in the center, braid them together and up to the ceiling outlet. You could then take two U shaped pieces of wood and attache them together making a solid looking upright piece going from the light bars to the ceiling. I hope this is understandable.
