Mason Jar Snow Globes

I made snow globes out of Mason jars. I discovered a little secret to making the jars look blue when they really aren't!
I love how the blue jars turned out. However, only one of these jars is actually blue, can you guess which one?
I used Super Glue, Waterproof Silicone Caulk, Glycerin, white and blue glitter in the jars.
I attached the canning jar lids to the bands and added the figures.
Then I added 3 Tablespoons of glycerin per jar, dumped in some glitter and filled the jar 3/4 full with water.
My favorite jars are the ones with the blue glitter. They give the illusion of the jar being blue, but actually it's a clear jar. More tips on the blog.

Why add glycerine?. I've made 3 so far without oil & they seem to be fine. But maybe I'm missing something by not adding the oil?
