Here is an update to the pair of green Channel back Queen Anne inspired chairs I posted a few days ago. This is chair one. The channel is a little tricky, but It's coming along.

    Hello -

Do you have a tutorial on how to do this?? i have one of these "Queen Anne" channel backs - and it needs recovering badly.

Also, is there any reason I can't just cover over the old fabric?

Last question: Is there such a thing as a fitted slipcover for one of these chairs?

    Thanks,

I have a pair of channel back chairs, not wing chairs. The backs are curved. How do I go about recovering them? The channels are in good shape, just where the backs connect to the front from an angry cat who wanted outside. He puled the back covering away from the front of the chair.

Question NO. 2. I am short and the seats on all furniture are deep so it is hard for me to get out of them at the age of 76. Can I change the depths of the seats?

I'm a little scared too. My sister and I are recovering a pair of chairs for my niece (Karri's daughter Jennifer). Next comes the brad nails. Not my favorite. Did that once on an antique white sofa. I'll have to post that picture some day. It belongs to Jennifer also. So, these chairs need to coordinate with it. Upholstery is kind of fun, kind of exhausting all at the same time. Thanks for the encouragement Patricia!

15 years ago I paid 462.00 to have my antique Channel Back chair to be reupholstered. My mother had done it herself twice and I didn't feel like tackling the job once she passed. It's wine colored with leave print imbedded. Beautiful chair but since the lady put new padding in the seat portion I think its been sat in three times. Exquisite to look at but that is as far it goes.
