I have recently inherited my home and I have a ton of flower beds.

The problem is I love the flowers but I have no time between family and work to weed the flower beds. Is there a simple way to maintain the current flowers and minimize the weeds without having to take hours a day to weed the flower beds?

Yes. Dead head the flowers once a week. As for the weeds, I put down three inches of hardwood mulch in between the flowers and they take care of most of the weeds. I pull the others out whenever I have a long phone call to family or friends. I can talk to my mom for half an hour or so and have many weeds pulled out. And when I talk to my best friend, the rest of the yard is taken care of. Eventually, you will win the battle. Enjoy the flowers!

I personally love "Preen" to minimize weeds and believe me it works...I have lots and lots of flowers areas...working in yard is therapy.

I too had a house that we purchased where the prior owner was a gardener. My wife will hate me for this and I really do not want to remind her again, but I used our lawn mower. Done, no more weeding. The funny thing is its been many years sense she stopped talking to me about that, but if we keep our lawn watered and not cut the grass for a few weeks. Lots of those flowers still pop out of the lawn. Reminding my wife why she was mad those many years ago. ...»

Sometimes it is just not worth the hassle. You may be better off digging out the bulbs and then completely start all over again with new beds that are already set up to manage the weeds and then replant.
