Our mom remembered making Christmas Angels from magazines when she was a kid, so we had to give it a try. This Angel would make a beautiful table centerpiece and it's hard to believe the body of our Christmas angel is made from 2 magazines. Embellish your angel as much or as little as you'd like.
Start by finding two magazines the same size. Mom remembered doing them with small Reader's Digest Magazines. We found two 9"w x 12"h magazines lying around the house. So those became our body.
Begin folding all the pages of the magazines, including the front and back covers, using the steps as shown above.
When you're finished with that glue your backs together to create the Angel body.
Paint the magazines White. We focused on just the exterior and about 1/4" inch on the inside pages. The kids had fun with this step.
Once your body is dry, fold the doily in half and cut vertical up the center to create two angle wings. Glue those in between the pages of the angles body for wings.
Put the dowel rod inside the foam ball and insert it in the center of the angel's body.
Wrap your ribbon around the dowel rod, adding just a touch of hot glue to secure the ribbon in place. This will become the neck of the angel.
Decide whether your angel will have pigtails or a bun then stretch cotton balls apart to create the angel's hair. Glue them in place on the foam ball.
Cut eyes, nose and mouth from black paper and glue onto the foam ball.
We found it easier to paint the glue on the foam ball and attach the facial features this way.

The last step is to bend your pipe cleaners into a circle for the halo. Then take a 2nd pipe cleaner and attach it with a dab of glue to the back of the magazine for secure placement.
