Carol Scotece Armstrong on Nov 05, 2016yes marine varnish will help. you must face it, though, the sun's rays are brutal on wood. shade the table if you can, else you'll be finishing it every couple of years if you want it to last. another option would be an oil-based finish that doesn't just sit on the top, but that the wood absorbs. looks for one that doesn't need stripping, like "ready seal." you just paint it on at the start of the season, and your wood should last a long, long time.Helpful Reply
