I purchased this table and would like to paint it. It looks like marble on the top. Do you think it can be painted. Best picture I could get.

First rough surface with water proof sand paper no.400  then apply one coat of primer then again apply water proof papper no 600. Then pain it shade of your choice.

Clean and make sure there is no residue,follow by a bonding primer allowing to dry,paint and again allow to dry and seal with a polyacrylic.

I would paint the top with chalk paint (Waverly from the Walmart craft department is my favorite) and I would spray paint the legs.

I have a similar table but all wood, glass top.  I am removing the glass, putting down pallet strips and chalk painting the base.

What if you keep the marble as framing and paint something on the glass?

Not sure what look you were going for, but that's not real marble.  I think it looks nice the way it is, maybe do something with the base and glass trim.

Everything can be painted, just a question of what kind of look you want.  You will need to scrub with dawn to be sure there is no grease or oil on the surface.   Plan on two coats(at least).  First an acrylic  latex.  When dry go with a gloss or semi gloss to finish, depending  on how shiny you want it.  Another option is a counter top refinish product.  You could keep a marbled look but have different color.  Stop by your local paint store for advice and selection.  Don't forget a drop cloth or two or a lot of newspaper.

Yes, it can be painted - make sure to give it a light sanding for a little tooth and then use a Bonding primer - XIM has a great one that I use all the time.

Why would you want to paint fossil stone and make it look like a cheap table? Just buy a cheap table and paint it. Sell this one to someone who likes the stone.

Imagine it stained. Like wood I can imagine all the striations of the marbled colors popping. All I know is this. It has to be cleaned well and roughed up to ensure that any treatment it has had is compltely off. Sometimes marble is polished smooth and then a special wax or polymer is applied....otherwise the marble would stain and rarely does stains come out of marble... I know, I bled on a piece once.

This table can be painted.  Scrub it real well to remove the dirt and grim.  Paint or spray with primer.  All to dry.  Paint or spray the rest of the table.  If the legs are to be left black, good for you.  Clean the legs & spray them with black paint.

Yes, but why would you paint the stone? I would paint the base and if I did not like glass insert.  I would inset with planks of weathered wood planks that complement the stone and base. Give it a weathered Country look

You can paint  a n y t h i n g    with rustoleum. You may need to sand first.

If you want to try the paint on the marble, flip the table over and try a small area on the back
