Cape Cod-style bathroom window replacement

KMS Woodworks on Oct 11, 2013A number of years back I installed 12 window in my home remodel project. I went with metal clad wood for all but the two bath windows...those were vinyl with the exterior metal cladding to match. Wood in a high humidity environment is not a good idea. You can also look into frosted or textured glass for privacy.Helpful Reply

Dan Kosko on Oct 11, 2013Thanks for the reply. Even if I varnish the wood you still feel like vinyl is the better option?Helpful Reply

Jim L on Oct 12, 2013The varnish will not hold up under daily use. Why not use glass blocks? They would be surrounded by tile and you would never have a problem.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Oct 12, 2013The humidity also contributes to the wood windows swelling and shrinking on a regular basis...this is one reason why finishes do not last as long on wood surfaces.Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Oct 15, 2013Both are stable and water resistant...most manufacturers use vinyl. I do not see too many fiberglass ones in my travels but plenty of vinyl.Helpful Reply
