I salvaged two guitars from the side of the road. I only traced one for a pattern template. I used the neck and other guitar for parts in my "operating room". I do not play the guitar or other string instruments; I just re-imagine them. Owning a table saw, bandsaw, miter saw and table sander all help me do the surgery necessary to bring my dreams to fruition. Oh, a friend gave me a bag of piano hammers, too. That was inspirational !
Next up: a violin, ukulele, banjo and cello ---when I find the time and inspirational parts.
old and new
the real thing was sliced cross-section, sanded and painted with gesso. Timber blocks were inserted as attachment weights.
figuring it out using game pieces ... design kept changing
spin cycle
table leg is now a neck
old flour sifter handle's the bridge
The second one ---cut from a salvaged wide barn plank. Laying out the notes and lyrics. Vintage hardware had been waiting awhile for this new life.
Typed out "Guitano"
Vintage Louis Armstrong, trimmed and scattin' on center stage.
Dog steals the show.
