Janet, I was going to recommend the same. You can go to a thrift store and buy shirts to use as fabric for the cushions.

Pick up a used over the fridge cabinet, toss pillows on it - 2 for 1 = seating and storage + can you later also

stack 2 wooden storage boxes on top of each other and either glue or / and nail together then you can add pillow for cushion and you can make as long as you like by connecting more sets of 2 wooden storage boxes. You have storage when not needed for seating. You can often find them on sale at big box stores, and can add a set at a time if wanted.
