DIY Newspaper/Doily Garland

I love making garlands. They're so quick and easy, and fun to change out. A couple of weeks ago, I made a wreath using an old book. I got lots of Wonderful responses...but I also go a few bad. That inspired me to come up with something from an item that might not cause so much controversy. A newspaper. This project takes only about one sheet of newspaper...and what a fun way to use it up!
I found something besides a book this time to recycle. I made a newspaper/doily garland. This was a fun way to use up an old newspaper.
By ripping strips down the paper longwise...it rips more evenly.
Fan fold your strips.
Attach the ends and centers to form a pleated round
Attach a thin piece of cardboard to the back of the doily for support. I used a cereal box.
Attach the newspaper to the doilies...and the doilies to what ever you like for a strand.
Top it all off with something cute. I used a small piece of jute in a bow.
