I also have a big lampshade that is falling apart & needs to be replaced. Mine is 2 wire rings, 1 on top & 1 on the bottom with thin plastic on the inside, covered with pleated fabric on the outside. The plastic liner has become brittle & has cracked. I'm wondering if fabric coated with Mod Podge would be stiff & durable enough to replace the plastic & fabric or if I could just find some thin cardboard/ heavy paper to replace the plastic liner with. Any suggestions or ideas anyone?

IF you can find some wire frames, with the rings connected, you can cover them with fabric gathered at the top by elastic. An "A" frame works best. I'm not great at sewing but made my own. I can pull them off and wash them and replace easily. The solid frames are hard to find so I collect all I can find. If you have enough of the shade left you can find someone to solder the two rings together with an old wire hanger. Hope this helps!

@Marilyn Thanks Marilyn. Not quite what I had in mind but I'll consider it if all else fails. I really want to use what I have if possible.
