I have made the odd blooper myself. I painted a coffee table white using a water based paint. I then used a spray paint in silver to stencil something on the top. Not a good idea! The paint over sprayed both under the stencil and over it resulting in ragged edges. So then I had to paint over those bits again which was very tricky without messing up the stencilled lettering. I tried a spray paint in white which of course turned out to be oil based paint, with the result that the edges of the now silver stencilled lettering on the table that were ragged are now yellowed from painting oil based paint over the top of a water based paint. Yuk - a big mess! I was going to sell the table, but if I want to do that, I will need to strip the paint off and start over. Even the idea of the stencil, had it worked, did not turn out to look the way I wanted it to. End result is for now I have kept the table and use it at home, covered up with stuff so that it does not notice. Maybe one day I will get around to making it over again and sell it. The other blooper was painting a small coffee table white and then adding a diagonal stripe to it using a spray paint colour I had on hand which turns out to be a very unpopular colour because the table did not sell and I still have it sitting in the garage. A case of needing to 'know your target audience and what will and won't sell' if you want to sell something. If you are keeping a makeover, you can of course paint it any colour you like! One compensation is this: We learn from our mistakes, so any 'mistake' just helps you to know what not to do in future.
