Organize Books by Color

This is one of the oldest tricks in the history of decorating, and yet it makes a HUGE difference in creating a pulled together look: organize your books by color. It injects them with a magic you didn’t know was there!
Colorful books don't have to stay on the shelf. Stack them on tables and they give the perfect pop of color.
Simply remove the dust jackets from your books. I do this anyways to keep The Wrecking Crew (my kiddos) from ruining them. Store them somewhere safe for future book-handing-down or reselling.
Then, group them by color. I don’t love solid rows of red or blue, I like shades of color mixed together, it leads to a more organic and not overly styled look.
How do you feel about grouping your books by color? Give it a try!

I absolutely love this look and would love to have in in our home.... BUT, I could never do it unless it was purely for decoration and only with colorful books I purchased just for this purpose. We have a home library and our books are organized alphabetically by author and then by date of original release. No it doesn't look as pretty, but we can always find a book we're looking for. Boring, but useful for our purposes.

I could see it being an interesting way to come up with new reading combinations as a temporary measure.
