I plan to order me some rain barrels to replace my ugly blue rain barrels to look pretty for my house and yard. Need to know which rain barrels that are good quality and good prices that last for many decades to use. Thank you, VR

  • just a thought~Before you buy, why not think about spray painting the blue rain barrels? You can purchase plastic primer and use any color spray paint (I use Rustoleum). Or build some sort of enclosure to hide them? The plastic rain barrels sold are at least $99 and up and are not much prettier for the money.

@The Garden Frog with C Renee ty. yes, I did to experiment one to paint and it did not last long and end up messy w/ peeling off. even, w/ primer painting. naturally, I gave it away to a friend.

I don't understand? What is there to know? They are usually just a barrel with a top that has a screen to catch leaves and keep out mosquitoes and then they have a spout on the front. Very basic item.

my rain barrel was white, and it would get green algae in it, so last fall I sprayed it black. The spray paint is still going strong, not peeling. My barrel came from a local truck wash, which had soap in it. Works just as well as a store bought one.
