Need extra patio lighting for an apt

I live in an apt that has a dark patio. I want to add some type of exterior patio light that I can control from inside my apt. What would you recommend since it is an apt and I can't modify the exterior in any permanent way? It also needs to be budget friendly. Thanks.

Research an outdoor light with a remote that works indoors to shut it down when it is not needed.

Remote switches are easily available in many styles at your local home store or online. We use one to turn on the heat lamp for our dogs when they are in the garage. We have one my wife uses to turn on an overhead light in her craft room. We use one to turn on rope lights in our shrubbery and also our outdoor Christmas lights. There are multi-channel units available that allow you to separately control multiple lights with one remote. As long as you have an outlet for your light to plug into, you can plug in the receiver and control it with a key fob or wall mount type control.

My daughter wrapped white Christmas lights around branches and ran end of light through door and would simple plug in and unplug as needed. Very cheap lighting solution that looks great. Could use plants or drift wood or old pallet to wrap lights on.

I used white twinkle lights, set on no-flash, hooked up to a $5 timer inside through the window. Looked great and lasted for years.

I'd go with the light strings, lots of styles available. if you have power to hook into.. There are also battery operated sets now too. I've only seen those in the mini type.. I know Michaels or Hobby Lobby have short strings to put in plants.. like ones they use on outdoor wreaths..many have timers so they come on every night at the same time after the first night..Batteries can be a pain to deal with if you use the area lotsbut they usually are good for several months. I'd also add some wall sconces or hanging lanterns with battery candles. they come on timers too..
