Paint Leaves on an Old Window for a Unique Wreath

I wanted to paint a wreath of leaves but just couldn't find the right background. Moving a bunch of junk in my basement I found this window and I knew I had found the right surface! Come see how I turned a plain window into a fun Fall decoration!
First I made sure the window was clean. I have a window cleaning post on my blog and I used the same solution to clean this window. The first thing I paint is a loose circle on the back side as a guideline.
You can free hand or use a paper pattern beneath the glass to help while painting on the leaves. I use real leaves to trace around onto paper as my patterns. Many of my leaf painting tutorials on the blog have a pattern you can download.
Full details on my blog post, it incorporates many leaf painting tutorials and a video.
You will need to do two coats for good opacity and don't worry about mistakes, they are very easy to clean up. I show you how in the video!
Using craft paints double loaded on my brush I paint the various leaves in Autumn colors. Using regular craft paints makes it easy for me to wash off and reuse the window for another season but if you want to make something more permanent then use craft enamels and let them cure before placing in outdoor environments.
This project is easy enough for beginners. But even if you flub, it is so quick to wash and begin again. A complete video is linked in the blog post for you to watch me paint the leaves.
With a liner brush I paint in tendrils and vines along with a few berries. Before you know it you have a complete Fall inspired wreath.
