My wife and I are closing on a home at the end of this month.

The brick mould around all the windows is rotted and needs to be replaced. We are thinking of going with either preprimed wood or PVC brick mould as the replacement material. Is going with PVC any better than preprimed wood or are we ok to just go with the preprimed wood and save the money from the cost of the PVC?

PVC is more expensive to install, but you will not have to maintain it over the years, saving in materials, trouble and expense. It also will not rot. So, if you can find a color you like, consider it.

PVC remains better by far. Even if many windows are affected, thereby increasing the materials cost, PVC is a life saver. Just consider that for the rest of the time you spend in that house, you never have to care about the rot again. Caulking around the windows is still a required maintenance though.

I have brick moulding for $0.82 per linear foot. Email at ask@wisemart.com. I am located here in Buford.
