Tired of Only 4" to Work With, See My $28 DIY Cure for Mantel Envy!
For sometime, I’ve had this idea that I could build my own wood mantel ledge. I figured I could just build a simple wood box, and slip it over the existing mantel. And YESSS!!! It worked!!
Mantel real estate decorating space is at a premium in my house... 4 inches is not a lot to work with!!
My idea for a distressed wood beam mantel.
I was able to extend my mantel ledge out to a whopping 8 inches!!
Is it perfect? No!
Do I love it and do I wish I would have done this years ago? Heck Yea!
