It's The Giant Pumpkin, Charlie Bown
by

Last year I had a giant pumpkin on my front porch and after Thanksgiving I threw it in the compost pile and forgot about it. This year, I noticed that we had two fairly large sized pumpkins magically growing in the compost pile. And they kept getting bigger and bigger. It took me a while to put two and two together and figure out they were probably growing from last year's seeds.
We literally did NOTHING for these guys. After I noticed them growing in the compost pile, I just sort of avoided throwing big piles of coffee grounds and eggshells smack dab on top of them. That's it. I think I'll look into becoming a Master Gardener soon :)

Glenna Kennedy on Oct 27, 2013I do add the regular spices to it when I go to make the pie. Check online for any basic pumpkin pie recipes, they are usually all the same..brown sugar, eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, I use carnation evaporated milk in mine..yummy!
