How to turn a customer into a repeat customer

In a recent post I asked for suggestions for sources for mail-order bulbs. One I mentioned was Old House Gardens (www.oldhousegardens.com), although I had not ordered from them before. Well, I placed an order, which I arrived this week. Included with the bulbs and the excellent cultural instructions was a note signed by Scott Kunst, the owner. And it was not just some generic note, it was personalized to acknowledge that I was a first-time buyer, and that I had obviously sought out bulbs that would do well in Florida. I am impressed.

Ahh - good ol' fashioned customer service! You just can't beat it can you! I have sold a few pieces of made over furniture on ebay and find it is a nice touch to add a little card for the buyer. If you have done something to the piece to change it or improve it, it can help to give some info on that - what was used (in case of accidental knocks or chips or damage in transport - they can always then retouch those areas using the same type of paint) or maintenance going forward (such as what to use to maintain a butchers block surface to keep it looking good). Sounds like you will now be a repeat customer of this business as they bothered to value you as a customer - too many companies don't! They obviously value word of mouth recommendations!!

Douglas it's always good to hear about a company that offers up those little extras to let us know we are appreciated. I'm clipping this for future reference. Thank you.
