I have a gold silk brocade dress that has brown age spots. Could this be a fungus? And if so can it be removed?

I would take it to a dry cleaner and have them assess it.

I try everything around the house to remove stains. Even tooth paste and pure dish liquid.

I worked in the upholstery industry selling a lot of remnant fabrics (the ones that sometimes sat in a warehouse for a year or more), which are heavier than clothing, true, but the same chemical reactions apply regardless of fabric weight. If it truly real silk than you can immerse the entire dress in cold water before applying a tiny bit of dish soap to the back of each stain sight and rub gently with a tooth brush until the soap works its way through the fabric to the other side. Then work the soap out from the center of the stain gradually and rinse really, really well. Make sure you have time to iron the dress immediately so that the water will not settle and cause a stain itself. If the dress is not real silk than you could do this with out having to first immerse the entire dress, just the portions with the stains. Alcohol does work on some stain/fabrics, but I wouldn't use it on real silk. If you have any doubts as to it's content, take it to the dry cleaner. Goo luck!

You will be way happier with a dry cleaner. Look for one that does wedding dresses for storage. They will clean it, fold it neatly and put in a box. If you'd rather have it hung, they will put on a padded hanger and cover with heavy plastic. I realize they are sometimes expensive but isn't the dress worth it?
