Spilled liquid laundry soap

What's the best way to clean up liquid laundry soap from my garage floor? Will all the soap that will absorb into the towels be bad for my washing machine?

Get the oil spill granular from the auto parts store and use old towels and discard once cleaned up

Take a towel and try to wipe up a large amount of laundry detergent. Once that towel becomes saturated with detergent in about 7.9 seconds, take it into the yard and hose it off pretty good. Take the towel back into the garage and continue mopping up the spilled detergent. Be very careful. The floor will be very slippery. Once the majority of the detergent is up, now you need to get the last little bit of detergent film up. Here is what works. Take some clean cold water and pour a bit of it on the floor. You don't need too much of it. Just enough to have it pool on the floor. Cold water creates less suds. Then, take something stiff like a broom and scrub the floor with the end of the broom. Circular motions work great. Don't be shy about it either. Keep going over and over it with the stiff broom. Now, you can use the shop vac to suck up the water. Take some dry towels to wipe off the garage floor, but it should dry somewhat quickly. You want to make sure that there isn't any detergent film left, either. It's obvious if the floor is wet when there is detergent film left and when the floor is clean. If any residue remains, clean the floor with white vinegar. The acid in the vinegar will cut through the remaining soap film. Hose down the soapy towels in the yard to remove as much soap as possible. Then throw them in the washer.

Did you run your washer through a rinse cycle without anything in it just to remove any soap residue and flush the lines and pump?! Just a suggestion.

You can also hand rinse/wash them out first in the tub to remove the excess.

Before using a towel try to scoop up as much as you can with a dustpan. it works as a great shovel for thicker liquids like laundry soap.
