Boring electric fireplace

With the faux wood around the box, can this be painted with chalk paint?

@mi Valspar has a spray on stone if your fireplace has a flat top tape ,prime for plastic and paint it with stone.Spray 1`st coat lightly wait 6hrs to dry then finale coat.I tried this on my dresser top and I like it.If u touch it when it`s wet it comes right off.Lowe`s has this stuff and some cool metal ones to.
