My lilac rose

I have a lilac rose bush & my last blooms looked light pink. What can I do to insure purple looking flowers in the spring?

Some Lilacs like an acid fertilizer -- I have to do that to mine -- check you soil PH

You should take soil samples to your county extension agent and have your soil analyzed. As Nona said above check the soil ph.

My lilacs like a "sweet" soil. I add wood ash from my wood stove to the soil around them all winter. Wood ash works faster than lime and it's free! I also use composted alpaca manure with the wood ash. Have your soil tested at your local county extension agent as suggested above.

Test the soil. It's probably too alkaline for a true purple rose. Also, try adding coffee grounds to the soil.

I agree with Melsandra7, sounds to me like you need to add some acid.
