I'm looking to use PVC pipe to separate rooms. Specifically in the laundry area, to hang draperies, etc.

Make sure you use the thicker PVC piping as the cheaper/thinner ones will drop down with age and use. If you use very much weight, consider having a three foot gap between support rods, also of PVC. The best and cheapest way to plan your adventure is to use tinker toys and make a model of what your need. It helps to plan what to purchase also. Have fun, good luck. Oh yes, you can spray-paint them or put tape on them for color decoration.

I just looked at William from Burank, Il. suggested web-site. It is excellent to get ideas for what you are asking. Good job William.

When I use PVC for closet rods, room dividing rods, and to hang Curtains around my bed for that ancient look, I buy two different sizes, fitting one inside of the other. This makes for a stable rod that can hold the weight without the sag that pvc gets after a while.

If you want a really stable pvc rod, put a piece of wood in it. It can be just a 3/4" x 3/4" x however long (8 feet?) and slide it down inside the pvc. It will keep it from sagging. Use the biggest piece that will fit. The tighter the fit, the stronger it will be. It is stronger than either on their own.
