Decorating a MINI Christmas Tree | Cute DIY Tiny Ornaments | by Fluffy

Hey everyone! I bought myself a cute little tree in a pot, and I thought I should decorate it for Christmas. I must confess it took a lot of brainstorming to find ideas for ornaments so tiny, especially since I challenged myself to use household items. I hope you find these ideas helpful and get inspired to create your own. Let's decorate this Christmas tree!

Step 1 : Acquire yourself a tiny Christmas tree. Mine is about 30 cm tall (that's about 12 inches)

Step 2: This step is optional. It Implies to decorate the pot. You can use fabric, decorative stones or even cover it with washi tape. I used a Christmas globe for this: I put it in a bag, smashed it with a hammer, and glued the resulting pieces to the pot with regular craft glue. I think it turned out pretty cool.

Step 3 is about creating the tinsel. I looked around the kitchen and found some alphabet pasta. I chose the letters with holes in them, and pushed them through some nylon string-about 4-5 pieces at a time, and tied a knot between each group. Then I sprayed some golden paint on them. You can use acrylic paint, nail polish or even glitter with glue. If you don't like the pasta idea, use small beads.

Step 4 is about the ornaments. For this I got all creative and I recycled a plastic bottle. Punched some holes with a sharp scissors, and cut around the holes a leaf shape. I also cut some thin slices on the edges, and hold them for a few seconds above a candle flame- this is for creating a cool effect-but of course it's optional. I then pushed some string through the holes, and tied a knot. Spray painted them , and into the tree with them.

Step 5: This is more of a hack. For the Christmas globes I simply used my collection of hanging earrings. They are already colorful and are easy to attach through the hooks. If you don't have this type of earrings just create some globes using 8mm beads and string or use some pom poms.

Step 6 is about creating the tree topper. Usually the topper is a beautiful star, but I wanted to give my tree a little personality so I made a tiny Santa hat. For this you will need a cotton pad. Fold it inwards to create a cone shape and use glue to hold it in place. Paint it with red, leaving a blank line at the base. For paint use acrylic or even nail polish. Then glue a white pom pom on the top. How cute is that?

Step 7 is optional. Take some empty or full matchstick boxes and cover them with washi tape. You can also use boxes from gums or tic tac mints-just get creative and search around your home or purse. If you don't have washi tape , use regular wrapping paper and glue.
