Here's how we updated my daughter’s teen bedroom on a budget. The 1922 walls had lots of cracks in them and was an ugly peach color. We used several gallons of purple paint and a lot of elbow grease and love to update this room. We let her pick the color and took it from 1922 to 2013 in a couple days. The arches and architecture in the room make it really cozy. It has tiny Hansel and Gretel size closets too. This room is long and narrow and has a beautiful bench seat right under a row of front windows. This will all be painted w sheer white drapes over the windows and a seat cushion made for the bench too hopefully soon. Did you notice the little photo bomber at the bottom of the picture??? That’s Oreo, her sweet kitty and he has a grey tabby sister running around here too. Her room has these pretty sconces with crystals dripping that I of course LOVE. She could care less…lol. To make it a little cooler for her I redid the lampshades for her. I used a Pottery Barn Runner I found at a thrift store for $2 that had purplish beads hanging and cut it to cover her shades. On the other side of her room is the cool lounge area otherwise known as the "lazy teenager relax and play music area." It’s great when her friends come over they can play music, play games or watch tv. This is actually a futon that reclines back so it’s great for sleep overs too. We found it at Living Spaces last year for $180 and we did that so if Grandma comes to stay she can sleep on the futon and our small office doesn't have to have a spare bed. She wanted a vanity or area where she could be girly and get ready, do her hair and apply lip gloss. I had been looking at the ones in stores that were about $150, and then we came across this great vanity at a yard sale and got it for $10. See below for before pic. We painted it black and covered the seat with cool zebra fabric and… Voila a whole new Vanity for her. I found all her bedding at Thrift Stores and we just mixed and matched it to her liking. Her bulletin board was also a Thrift Store find and we painted the edges black to make it cooler. She loves her room and so do her friends. Thanks for stopping by and lots more pictures and details on the blog. Please click the link below and come on over. - Have a great day, Lisa
