Fixing carpet in a doorway

We are moving into a house that the carpet is really good throughout except going into the doorways of the bedrooms. Don't know if they had an animal that pawed at it or it the door dragged at on e time. Trying to figure out a way to repair without replacing the whole carpet.

Use a stiff brush and brush the nap to fluff it up. Once the nap is raised you can trim any long strands with scissors. Brush the nap as you cut, so you only cut what is needed to match with the rest of the carpet.

If it is still good under the pulls, you can use hair (barber) clippers to even it out. ( or even sculpt a design pattern if there are too many low spots.)

The doorway entries are where the carpet is actually "ironed" together using a special carpet adhesive. - Married to a flooring guy. If furniture is dragged across there and yes, and animal continually clawing there will begin to bring the carpet up there. A flooring person can actually fix that - but speaking from experience - you cant effectively do it yourself to where it will stay in the long term. Special tools are needed. It probably wouldn't cost you much to have this fixed. WAY less than new flooring. Call a local carpet dealer/supplier.

If the carpet is unfixable, you could have pieces cut out from a closet and used as a patch. This puts "new" good carpet into high traffic areas. You could also replace hall only with some kind of wood like product or tile and use the hall carpet for patching.
