Here is our kitchen makeover done on a budget. All we could do was replace the flooring and the rest we did on our own with some gallons of paint and elbow grease. (click on camera button below pictures to see 9 more pics that include the befores). Remember the size of your kitchen when you had your first apartment? Our kitchen is probably one of the teeniest kitchens you will probably ever see and let’s say interesting in shape too. It has a very small galley style kitchen cooking area. If my husband and I are cooking or prepping at the same time our buns are touching and or we are bumping into each other. You have to say excuse me me to pass the other person. Off the kitchen is the kitchen nook. This room I LOVE Love LOVE. It’s bright and sunny, with charming windows that look out to our 100 year old Oak Tree, and beyond that you can see the blue water glistening from the pool. It is mint green walls and white cabinets and very Shabby n Vintage Chic in style with lots of pink roses. This may not be your style, in fact it’s probably not most peoples but I just love it. Before I met Mr Cc, and my daughter and I lived in a small house, every room was pink and every room had roses. When we got married I promised him no more pink….or at least not as much. When I asked how he wanted to decorate he said what ever I wanted. Yayyy for me!! Now when he walked in with the box of Steeler’s décor and accessories, and said “where does this go?” My answer was “The garage honey.” No just kidding, that wouldn’t be fair. So he has a Steeler's Tv Room and I have a Pink Roses Kitchen. We have compromised and most of our home is more neutrals. See below - I want to share with you some of the before pictures. When we first bought our home our kitchen had blue and white striped wall paper with pink flowers. There were brown cabinet doors on white base cabinets and black n cream tile like linoleum. We stripped the wallpaper and painted it a Sherwin Williams mint green. We painted the cabinets all white and will be adding crystal knobs to the doors. I love shopping thrift stores for accessories too. I hung some of my pink roses plates above the window in the nook and there are two shelves built in the cabinets that are great for displaying teapots and teacups and any I love to change out holiday items there too. The table and chairs was a Craig’s List find. Do you ever used Craig’s List? I am hooked now. My husband and I drove two cars in the rain to pick this up and she gave it to us for $100, with two leafs, two more chairs and she threw in 3 tablecloths and 6 chair cushions. We have met some of the nicest people. We hung our favorite new chandelier in the Kitchen nook. This was a gift from my brother and his wife. When they bought their fixed upper in Orange several years ago, this was hanging in their dining room. They hated it and it isn’t their style at all. When he asked me if I wanted it, I jumped at the chance. FREE??? I'll take it. I just tucked it away in my garage knowing someday it would hang somewhere and I would adore it. We eat most of our meals and coffee in here and I just LOVE it. I made the chandelier chain cover for it and you can find it and several styles in our store. Have I told you I LOVE pink n white stripes too? I made these valances on the windows from a longer valance that I cut into pieces to fit our windows. I still have a big To do list that includes: 1. paint molding white. 2. Paint countertops to look like Marble (I've seen it done so I'm gonna try in the new year). 3. Add crystal knobs to cabinets. 4. Paint table top, it is brown underneath the tablecloth. 5. Replace dishwasher and oven. I'll keep you posted on the progress too.
