Forcing Hyacinth Bulbs the Old Fashioned Way

Its so easy to force bulbs with these Victorian hyacinth bulbs. It's the perfect time to pick up some bulbs as most nurseries are clearing their stock right now. I got mine for 50% off the original price!!
These hyacinth vases were all the rage in Holland during "Tulipmania" in the 1700's when the bulb frenzy hit it's peak.
Specifically designed to suspend the bulb over the water, the vases have an indentation about 2" from the top.
They come in a range of colours and sizes. This blue one is my favourite.
Store extra bulbs in the crisper drawer of your fridge.

I just don't know if I'm going to get them in or not, it seems to me I remember my grandmother putting bulbs in the fridge for the winter when she didn't have time to put them in the ground.

@Heather (New House New Home) .... yes. you have confused me. Douglas told me to put them in the fridge to trick them into thinking they had winter and then put them in the vase to force the bloom.

Thanks Heather that helps, I always force a few bulbs but I have so many I need to plant, and knowing I can put them in the fridge helps, I don't feel so pressured now. I know it will warm up again after this little cold snap and I can get back out there again. Thank you so much for your help.
