    How much sun do you get where you live? In Nebraska, it seems we have more days than not that are gray and cloudy. Besides temperature, is lack of sunshine a factor in winter gardening?

    Sunshine is definitely a factor for growth, but the idea with a fall/winter garden is that you grow the vegetables to a certain size and then keep it in a preserved state, sort of like a living refrigerator. In areas where you get below zero temperatures season extenders like heavy weight row covers, mini hoop tunnels or a greenhouse is needed.
