Up-styling a Painted Terracotta Pot Into a Faux Concrete Pot

I had this old blue terracotta pot sitting in my workshop that I used for holding water to wash my paint brushes and I had an idea one day to give it a bit of a facelift ...

I started by using Fusion Mineral Paint's Sandstone Texture and mixing it with a grey colour called Soapstone, to replicate a concrete or cement colour.

I mixed equal parts of the Sandstone Texture to the Fusion Mineral Paint until well combined.

Then I started painting on the pot - I moved around the pot in long brush strokes, aiming to create a "hand made" look with the brush stroke lines travelling around the pot.

I painted inside and outside, making sure it was fully dry on top edges before flipping it over to do the base.

Then I used the colour Casement (white) to paint the base to look like the concrete pots you see in all the decor stores lately!

In this step you could use painters tape to mark your line, but I opted for a hand painted look and wasn't concerned if the edges weren't perfect.

Think of all the other pretty colours you could use for the base!

What about metallic gold or copper?

All ready for adding to your kitchen decor or ....

... add a plant and decorate your dresser or shelf!

I had and shared on Hometalk a similar idea only with an ugly old painted stainless steel pail, and I draped a plastic bag over it dripping in cement ..I like your idea better..your idea has more jazz and color...I like it..not as messy as my idea.. what I liked about mine was the pail came with a handle..I need a handle to move the plants around in my garden as I only have one arm...guess I could find a honey with 2 arms...and do your idea..Thanks for the great pictorial steps..I don't have a camera either..can't handle it...oops, on the ground more than not..
