Instant water dispenser dripping

i have an instant hot and cold water dispenser in my kitchen sink that needs replacing due to the cold water side dripping badly. We want to hold off for now, however, as we have plans to re-do the sink later on, plus it is exceedingly difficult to access, etc. Being that we only need the hot water to function and that one of the levers/valves works fine, I tried a variety of Mickey Mouse attempts, but all met with failure. The closest I came was to simply reverse the hoses, but after about a minute, it stopped flowing, and began leaking around the base. I put it all back and looped in a mini shutoff valve under the sink in the meantime. It shouldn't be that complicated, but this thing is making me look dumb! Any clues?

@Rebecca Los Angeles What do you call an instant water dispenser? Can you post a picture so we can get on the same page. Sometimes different areas have a synonym for an item in another part of the nation or it may be your own title for a given item. Please give a way to know what item with which you are dealing. Is it a typical sink faucet or some other water dispenser. Be glad to help if possible!

If what you have is a unit that dispenses hot and cold water from a bottle on the top..take it to a Culligan office. They'll repair it for free (at least they repaired our for free). The hot water "tap" was leaking.
