Making a snowman out of wool roving

Has anyone ever used wool roving glued to styrofoam balls to make a wool look snowman? I have to make quite a few placecard holder snowmen and was thinking of buying styro balls and gluing wool roving to the outside to give the appearance of a wool snowman???? Any ideas much appreciated.
