What Kind of Wildlife Nuisances Are in Your Suburban Neighborhood?

See my blog post for more details of various nuisance wildlife I have, but know this: I become a wild, crazy woman when the Canadian geese come on shore at river's edge, onto my property!
Clowns to the left of me....
....Jokers to the right
Mockingbird...bully of backyard birds.

@Rita C., my father in law has used shiny objects to keep the messy geese out of the living area. From old and useless CD's, or slightly twisted foil rope/string (Like car dealers have strung with flags), and finally foil pinwheels. The geese don't like anything that moves or seems to move, as the foil catches the light and shadows, so away they go. His yard has been clean for 3 years. But, placing stakes that hold up the foil strings can be tedious for when you mow. I liked the shepherds hook with a necklace of CD's draping down, and CD's can hang from trees and adorn bushes too with a little fishing string to tie them together but leave plenty of gap. The pinwheels are my favorite for keeping your yard clean for (and before) summer festivities, but the snow covers them in the winter, here in Ohio. Anyway, I hope that I've given you some help for a cleaner yard.

@Rebecca S, that's a good idea, thank you. In my blog post, I noted that I placed hologram ribbon on the posts from the previous dock that remain on the bank below the road level, and it did seem to curtail the geese, at least on my section. Hanging the discs is a good idea too, and I may try that. :)

From the gardening perspective - possums, wallabies and wombats, rabbits - although I would not have it any other way. It is a privilege not a right for us to live in the bush as we do and if we lose some plants to the critters, then so be it! From the scary perspective and worrying about our dogs safety - venomous snakes. You have to learn to take the good with the 'bad' and the snakes are there to keep the rodents down so really if you leave them alone, then hopefully they leave you alone. I can understand some animals make a mess and so on, but we all have to try to get along! A huge bonus for us is the beautiful birdlife that we get here. Foxes, because they are not indigenous to Australia and they take the neighbouring chickens sometimes. Then again - we humans introduced them to Australia for fox hunting, so they did not ask to be here!
