Mackenzie-Child's Like - End Table

by Paula Driesell
I started this with a sentimental end table that my daughter wanted me to update. She had seen a previous MC table I did for a friend and wanted one too!
To being with, I painted the entire piece white. I used chalk paint so I did not need to strip and sand this down.
Then I took notice of the curves and accent pieces and began to plan out what I was going to do with this.
I started with stripes and then added additional colors and checks. So fun right?
The original inspiration piece had a crackled front and I wanted to do this as well...
I painted the underneath piece gold...this is what you want to crackle through your paint. I used regular old craft glue on top of the gold and then painted white paint over it. I used a hair dryer on hot to dry the paint and create the crackle effect. I love the random lines and cracks....
I painted a few other places and then used an original Mackenzie-Child's knob.
I love to paint furniture and other items. You can get as clever as you want. Head over to my blog and check out other things that I've done. I'm here to help if you have any questions.
