How to brighten kitchen cabinet and make them shine

We are getting our house ready to put on the market. The cabinets are wooden; darker maple color and jsut a bit drab. Would a wax work; any suggestions?

Deb, just use that simple mix of 3/4 cup oil and 1/4 cup vinegar to revive your old wood cabinets. This simple mixture is wonderful and so cheap and easy to use. I can't claim it and wish I could remember the source that I first learned about it so I could thank them for saving me a lot of time and money! ( I used canola oil and the recipe is only plain white vinegar). Hope this helps...pass it on!

What kind of oil. Cooking or motor?

in her answer she says canola oil, which is a cooking oil.
