KITCHEN REVEAL: We're Installing 1,120 Square Feet of Pergo!!!

Follow along as we journal about our first floor Pergo transformation. The kitchen is our 1st room reveal (4 more to go!) as we replace our builders-grade floor. After living here 11 years, we finally removed old, dingy carpet in sections....and learned to live in a 1/2 finished space for awhile :) Pet-friendly and spill-proof were the two factors that pushed us towards the new Pergo Outlast+ line.
I built my home in 2005. I couldn't afford all the fancy upgrades at the time....so I accepted builders-grade "everything". My original floors were white vinyl. Other rooms had carpet.
AFTER!!! After living here 11 years, I tackled each space, one section at a time. My kitchen has been a budget-DIY labor of love. The flooring was the icing on the cake. (What makes me laugh is that my toaster is the lone survivor in this photo -- it out-lived everything, including my large appliances! :)
AFTER!! We're very proud of this space. We painted and updated all the cabinets. Cutomized and painted the island. We already had to replace our old appliances.
We had to remove a cheap floor on top (we once laid an inexpensive brand that had water damage) -- and we did have to level the floor, and put down plywood on top of the OSB subfloor before we laid Pergo.
Our cuts around the island...I did this myself.

AFTER: We loved the handscraped look and the color variations which made it look so much more natural.

VIDEO: I do this for clients, too (as an interior decorator) -- I created this 3D layout so that we could calculate our exact measurements when we ordered our Pergo...and now you get a tour of my house : )

I know what you mean. I just re-painted my kitchen cabinets white also from the wood grain look and I have to do the floors now, the kitchen looks undone because of the floors.
