Making an angel ornament using collected shells is easy and quick. It only takes a few supplies. I've got loads of collected shells from Folly Beach, SC and this is a great way to use some of them for Christmas ornaments.
Last week, I shared my Santa Sea Shell ornament and mentioned that I’m enjoying creating several different styles of ornaments using collected shells. This sea shell angel ornament uses three shells, positioned closely together to create an angel. It’s really easy to make and only uses a few materials. After cleaning the shells using Palmolive dish washing liquid, I sorted through them to find three that were very similar in size.
I used the darker one for the body of the angel and the lighter ones for the wings. After I got them in the right position, I hot glued them together. I added a pearl bead to the center with hot glue.
To hang the ornament, I used a small piece of gold rope ribbon. It’s hot glued to the back of the angel.
To give the ornament a fuller look, i cut two pieces of wired gold ribbon and made each one into a loop. They are stapled together to help keep them together. I attached the ribbon loops to the ornament with hot glue.
Another piece of the gold rope ribbon was used to cover the edge just to give it a more finished look.
So easy! But, it was missing something. After looking at it for a few minutes, I knew what was missing.
Sparkle! I used Gold Glitter paint to add some sparkle to the ornament. Using a small paint brush, I gave it a light coat of paint. Note: It would have been easier to paint it before I added the bead. I’ll remember that for the next one I make.
I’m enjoying finding lots of ways to use the many shells I have for Christmas. I’m making these to keep and to share with family and friends.
If you've got lots of shells, turning them into Christmas ornaments is a great use for them! These angel ornaments can be made in under 15 minutes with only a few supplies.
