I used a regular pleated curtain on a draw rod, this way I could pull the curtain open whenever I wanted the light inthe room.

We carry arched window coverings that can be paired with cellular shades, wood blinds, or shutters. Take a look here: http://www.blinds.com/control/subCategory/categoryID,63 If you'd like to do curtains, some people are able to follow the curve of the arch with a series of knobs to hang the curtains. I'd go with the arched shade in order to keep the style of this window. The arch is the beautiful part of the design. Use the light filtering type and I'd personally just leave in place and open and close the bottom portion only.

I would use a double rod over the square of the window only with a shear, over which I would put a rather plain curtain. I love the ones made from drop clothes and a strip pained on them near the bottom. The pocket can be made with that iron on stitching so no sewing is required. It would always be semi private but I would pull the curtain when needed.

I think all you need to do is put a straight regular curtain rod (decorative) along the top...even going a few inches further up and then a long curtain on either side. When opened it will actually make the window a nice focus and look more dramatic. The fan curtain is dated looking and collects dust!! Good luck!

I agree with Nancy! Use the regular decorative curtain rod along the top - as close to the ceiling as you are comfortable with - with long straight curtain panels down the side. Placing the rod close to the ceiling will make the ceiling look higher and draw the eye upward. No need to cover the arch, just hang curtains as if the arch were not there!! I too think the fan is outdated... Good Luck!

Replace the blind with another solution like the Hunter Douglas Pirouette. You will achieve the softness and well as the control of the view and outside light

The inexpensive and practical way is, a curtain rod over the arch, If you like the linen look, then get long drop cloths at Home Depot/Lowes, and if your feeling it you can paint stripes on them, if not, leave them alone. You can use the metal rings with clips, to hang the curtain. Prob. cost under $60. You can go farther, if you want tye backs, use the burlap ribbon you can get at Micheal's, attach to cup hook by using the same metal rings.

We got new blinds kinda of pricey but we use them and they are great for keeping the heat in or out. Bed Bath & Beyond Roman Shade energy savers and they have no cord you just push up and down. And got a neutral color.

@Courtney Morris Don't cover up that gorgeous arched window with a straight rod! There are window treatments made specifically for that type of arched window and can be found in many drapery departments and home decor shops, as well as searching online for some ideas. It won't be cheap initially, but well worth the expense for something that will enhance your decor for years to come!

look for a paper fireplace fan that will go with your decor. it is very light weight and will set on top of almost any blind. if you go with curtains put a 1"x3" board into the window behind the curtian rod for it to set on.

Me, I would skip the curtain...trim out the window with fluted wood and arched trim( usually a special order) and hey a better quality window shade or go with plantation shutter(they are $$) I have faux wood blinds. and get the matching shade for arch. I have 4 of these arches in my house, only one with blind is in bedroom, the other 3 are double french doors, nothing up at them.
