The Dreaded Bleed Through and a Pretty Gray Dresser

I found this fantastic White Company Bow Fronted dresser at a yard sale but it needed a bit of TLC. I used Bondo by 3M to fill the wood on one of the drawers and the top. I opted to paint it in MMS Milk Paint in Shutter Gray, but that dreaded bleed through occured! So shellac to the rescue. Now Rosalind is pretty as a picture and her curves and beautiful brass hardware really stands out against the soft gray. Detailed step by step on the blog post of products used.

I have a dresser with a drawer like that. What did you do? should I peel the veneer off since I am chalk painting? I am new to furniture revival and have no clue. Thanks
