Torn up Rattan Back Chair and Table Makeover

Well I got this set for free because it was in really bad shape. The rattan on the backs of the chairs was all torn up and the table top had really deep scratches. I really did not know how this was all going to turn out but I gave it a try.
I tore the rest of the rattan out of the backs of the chairs and sanded them down
I sanded the table top as much as I could without causing more damage in hopes that I could stain it. I painted the bottom of the table with a light blue chalk paint and gave it a coat of dark wax. I like using dark wax on pieces that have lots of crevices or spindles.

I stained the top of the table with a dark stain but it just did not finish like I wanted it to so I dry brushed some of the blue on top to give it that rustic feel. Polyurethaned the top with a high gloss, I usually stick with satin but I love how the gloss turned out on this one.
I reupholstered the chairs...out of a pair of thick curtains I purchased for $12...it was enough to do all the chairs!
I put a thin piece of board in the back section and stained it the same color as the top of the table
Added trim to cover up the upholstery staples
Close up. I sealed the chairs and table base with clear wax and then a dark wax over.

Love this..not crazy about the streaks on the table top..but hey...absolutely love the rest so there ! Using the curtains for the chairs was brilliant !

Could I use the same paint from the chairs for the top of the table?
Love how this turned out, you said you used dark wax to stain the top of table, then you put streaks of paint over the wax, and polyurethane over the top of the waxed table top, I thought paint or polyurethane would not stick to wood that had been waxed? That is the reason I have not used wax in case I want to change the color that has been waxed.
First, let me say that I'm new to this. Knowing that, here's my question...how did you staple the material to the backpiece w/o wrapping it around & stapling it on the back? You used trim to cover up staples on the front. Then you used a thin board to cover the back. Are there 2 boards making up the back section?
