    Hi

you need to remove all old sealant really well every last trace think this is an American site so your stuff maybe different to UK.

you can get a thing call silicone eater (NO ITS NOT A BUG)

you paint this stuff on leave it a bit see instructions and then clean it away removes all traces bit messy though.

when that's done replace sealant a tip some one told me was to first spray a fine mist of water along area to be sealed and sealant will may a nice finish.

you could always practice first and wipe it before it sets.

    falling that

you can get little finger tiles

to stick around the edge of bath the come with end that are curved

    good sealing

CLEAN the area where previous material was used (very good, not partially), mask off with masking tape, fill area with new material and smooth out. Remove masking tape, allow to dry. This will give the cleanest lines and you will not have to be a pro to get a clean smooth caulk line. Use a water soluble caulk and you can mist lightly or wet your finger to smooth and even out the caulking. They do sell a caulking device that looks triangular at the tip to spread the caulk out evenly but a damp finger will work as well using the masking tape.

You should also fill the tub with water before you caulk. The weight of the water in the tub helps to keep the caulk from cracking as wel

Use painters tape in a line above and below where you want to caulk, spread on the caulk with a plastic spoon, and then peel away the tape while the caulk is still wet (this is very important). those are my three best tips
