Old Dogs, Dog Food, Dog Comfort

We have a 14-something year old shelter dog who's made her home with us since 2003. Now she is totally blind and nearly-totally deaf. Although we don't move furniture around or leave objects in her way, Misty still bumps her way through the house, trying to follow me wherever I go.
If I had known then what I know now, I would have always fed her grain-free food. After all, how natural is it for a dog to be eating wheat? corn? soy?? It's only filler. Although she's been on grain-free food for a few years now, it can't do anything to reverse her blindness and deafness, of course.
We make Misty as comfortable as possible with dog beds here and there, and her special dog blanket for winter nights when the room is cooler.
I'm a firm believer that God gave us these sweet creatures to love and enjoy - and to care for. They help us, they give us companionship and love. They deserve excellent care and love in return. We thank Him for little Misty. (Yeah, she's little compared to our 124 pound GSD).
Snug as a bug. Dog nap.
Tucked in for the night.
I hate winter!
I hate the vet's office!
They're still trying to figure out what breed(s) of dog I am.
How did I get to be the little dog?? (photo from a few years ago)
