You do not mention the interior material. If it is tin lined and has no shelves, it is very likely an ice chest.

Looks like an old time Ice Box , the ones they used maybe to keep the ice cold, you know when we used to have our ice delivered. Just a thought, I'm pretty old people.

It looks like like a rail road switch box. My dad had one similar when rail road replaced it he brought old one home to store tools in.

If the interior which you said is slanted has some sort of drain hole then I vote an ice box.

It looks like an old milk box that would be placed on the porch for the milkman to deliver his products (milk, cheese, etc.). When we moved into a new house in 1954, we no longer had a milk box built into the outside wall of our home so the dairy brought us one like the one pictured.

I would go with the ice box - especially if the inside is covered with tin. The original of the modern day refrigerator.

It looks like a storage bin for coal. With the slopped back it would move the coal forward when you opened the door so you wouldn't get covered in coal dust.

It looks like a home made box that someone made for their own personal use. It looks to be able to store any item outdoors without worry about animals or weather.

It is an ice chest. Block ice goes in the slopey area, larger top area is for things to be kept chilled.

I am only guessing,but it seems to be an old press ,like the old larder presses,cannot say why it has castors.

It's an icebox like my grandmother had. Milk chutes have double doors for a pass through into the home.

It is truly and old fashion Ice Box it's lined that way for a reason, so they could place blocks of ice in them to. I think they're slop for drainage somehow.

I think it is a milk box. My mother in law has one near her back door, it is inset in the wall of the house for milk delivery, then put the empty bottles for pick up and new milk the next day.

The only way it could be any kind of ice box is if it has a drain hole and galvanized inside. It might be for dry ice. But there are problems with the ice concept no door seal. Maybe a storage bin for potatoes or onions.

I remember having an ice box (in fact, ice delivery was an exciting event) but since I was born in 1949, our ice box was more substantial than this, although ice box was my first idea upon seeing this.
